Welcome to CSC!

The Central Societies Committee (CSC) is the body responsible for student societies in Trinity College.

Chairperson Rob Farhat

Hi, I'm Rob, the chair of the CSC. I'm a final year economics student, and during my time in Trinity, societies have been without doubt the highlight of my college life. I've been highly involved with Trinity Orchestra, having been auditor last year and having directed some of their biggest concerts such as the Daft Punk gigs, so I know how enjoyable, tough, and rewarding running a society can be.

I've also participated in the activities of many other societies such as VDP, I was editor of the Student Economic Review in 2011, and sat on CSC Exec as an ordinary member last year.

The CSC chair's responsibilities involve making sure that the CSC runs as smoothly as possible, to chair Exec's meetings, to maintain good relations with our wonderful staff, and to represent the CSC where necessary. I want to make sure that anyone involved in societies - no matter whether you're the chair or the guy in charge of biscuits - can feel like they can come and chat to me and my fellow officers about anything society-related - advice, new ideas, queries, complaints... anything.

I really believe that societies are at the heart of what makes this university so great, and I look forward to meeting you and attending your great events!

According to the CSC constitution the responsibilities of the Chairperson are as follows:

(i) The chairing of meetings of the Committee and Executive.

(ii) The appointing of chairpersons to any sub-committees of the Executive or the Committee.

(iii) Responsibility for the overall running of the Committee.

(iv) Responsibility for staff employment and relations.

(v) Liaison with other capitated bodies and chief negotiator with bodies or person not covered in the briefs of other Officers.

I'm around the CSC office a lot or you can always drop me an email at  chair@csc.tcd.ie
