My name is Sean Gill and I am the Treasurer to the Central Societies Committee. I am currently a third year Mathematics & Economics student whose knowledge and experience of society life and operations within college has stemmed from my previous time as Treasurer of Dublin University Players (2010/2011), my current role as Chief Risk Officer of the Trinity Student Managed Fund and many other endeavours that I been involved in within the society framework in the three years that I have spent in college.
Thus, whether it be organising electronic bank transfer payments, changing the signatories on a society bank account, drafting an invoice or simply seeking advice on accurate record keeping, my role, in conjunction with our administrative officer Lucy O’Connell, is to assist each society treasurer in any possible way that we can.

A specific topic I aim to promote and encourage during my time in office is coordination and discussion between societies, from both a financial and event based perspective. Economies of scale can be beneficial to all societies and hence, I urge each treasurer to communicate with their respective peers in other societies in an effort to reduce costs, resulting in greater value for money and ultimately more for the members of your society.
Remember, it is very easy to spend someone else’s money and as such, it is a privilege to be tasked with the role of ensuring that all society monies are put to the best possible use
In addition to assisting each society treasurer, I have the responsibility for the CSC's finances, and the distribution of grants to the societies. It is my role to make recommendations to the Executive on societies grant applications.
The CSC constitution outlines the responsibilities of the Treasurer as follows;
* All financial matters of the Committee
* The overseeing of society finances and ruling on the quality of society accounts.
* Drawing up budgets in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer and drafting a Grants Policy Document.
* All dealings with banks and other financial institutions in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer.
