Photography Association (DUPA)

dupa@csc.tcd.ie

Founded in 1948, DUPA is Ireland’s oldest student photography society. We’re open to photographers of all levels—whether you’ve never used a camera before or have years of experience, we’ll support you in developing your skills and sharing your work.

Members have access to two on-campus darkrooms, a fully equipped studio with film scanning facilities, and a dedicated editing station with professional software—all of which can be booked for personal use. We also maintain a large collection of film and digital cameras, tripods, lenses, and photobooks, which members can borrow. Film is available for purchase at affordable prices, and we run regular workshops on shooting, editing, developing, and printing.

Each year, we hold four major exhibitions where members can submit their work, as well as smaller displays and opportunities to showcase photography throughout campus. We also organise photo walks around Dublin, local field trips, and national and international trips with a focus on creative exploration. Guest speakers and professional photographers regularly visit to give talks and hands-on workshops.

Whether you shoot film or digital, on your phone or an SLR, DUPA is a welcoming space to learn, experiment, and connect with others who share an interest in photography.
