Society for International Affairs (SOFIA)

The Society for International Affairs (SOFIA) gives students with an interest in global politics, diplomacy, and international relations a chance to explore these fields in depth. We provide a forum where students can engage with experts including ambassadors, academics, journalists and human rights lawyers.

SOFIA regularly hosts speaker events on all aspects of foreign affairs and diplomacy, and each year we hold the Ambassadors’ Ball, where students dine and discuss international issues with over thirty diplomats. We also run an embassy visit series, giving members the unique opportunity to visit embassies across Dublin and learn firsthand about different countries’ foreign policy and culture.

Our aim is to cover every dimension of international affairs from a wide range of perspectives, offering our members a balanced, engaging and informative picture of the most pressing issues facing the global community today.
